How much time does the band stay on the road?
The Duhks spend about 75% of the year on the road, and hundreds of
thousands of people all over North America see their vehicle as they
travel from gig to gig. Approximately a hundred thousand people see The
Duhks play each year and they have over 10,000 fans on their mailing list.
Who listens to The Duhks?
Their audience is quite diverse, spanning all age ranges and musical
tastes, not to mention political affiliations. The Duhks tour all over
North America, frequenting folk festivals, Colleges/Universities,
theaters and many other types of venues, as well as the occasional tour
of Europe and Australia.
How long have The Duhks been a band?
The band has been together for 7 years. The second album (self-titled)
was released on Sugar Hill Records in early February 2005. It has since sold
over 40,000 copies and won a Juno award (Canadian Grammy) for Best Roots & Traditional
Album of the Year. Their third album, Migrations, was nominated for a Juno
(Best Roots & Traditional Album by a Group) and a Grammy for Best Country
Album by a Group (against The Dixie Chicks) in 2007. Their most recent album,
Fast Paced World, was released August 19th, 2008.
Why would I want to sponsor The Duhks?
As the band's popularity grows, we are realizing that we have an amazing opportunity to educate and inspire hundreds of thousands of people around North America and abroad.
Our Sprinter van can also serve as a mobile advertising billboard displaying the positive ecological and economic impact of our biofuel as well as displaying our top sponsors' logos, and behind us at every show will be a banner with the logos of our main sponsors.
In addition, there will be promotion of our sponsors through our website http://www.greenduhks.com/ and a 10-part series on the different ways we "green" our tour, to be featured on the internet.
Through this project, we are looking forward to making friends, opening the eyes and hearts of both already-converted green enthusiasts and those new to the ever-growing green movement.
Finally, The Duhks have been carefully researching sustainability for several years and have a sustainability coordinator. As a result, we require little management while promoting and protecting your brand.
How big is The Duhks carbon footprint from touring?
We are in the process of recalculating, now that we have been touring in a Sprinter van that has been running mostly on biofuel all summer.
