Check this book out... Ecological Intelligence, by Daniel Goleman.
One of its' gems is this website which independently rates products on production, ingredients, company ethic & after-effect...
(like how many sunscreens become toxic to coral reefs upon contact with water -!-)

The link need more info, but you could goggle it if it still doesn't work.
Take the time to see this, it is 20 minutes of trying to tell a very long story!

Thanks so much for raising awareness for a sustainable world.
Most of the stuff we buy, is disposable, and that is not sustainable.
We need to move away from a consumer society, and buy less stuff.
We need people who can lead us out of this throw away society, with another plan. Thanks to the Duhks for helping us look for this plan!

...I've also found amazing compostable garbage bags - made from corn, not petrolium products.
Bio Bags.
Yessssssssss!

I've finally found some ways to work with the 'energy efficient bulbs'. To keep the mercury from leaking in landfills, etc, there are a few ways to recycle the bulbs safely. See the links below.
You can also just search "CFL recycling in (your area here)". Happy lighting!

Hi Everyone.
I'd like to encourage those of you who have questions or comments to please participate in this discussion here.
If you haven't watched our youtube video, you can check it out on our homepage here, or go to youtube itself. Hopefully some of the moments captured in there will inspire some dialogue.
We've had a fantastic tour, playing concerts and participating in workshops and discussions at Bonnaroo and Telluride most recently, and meeting with some pretty cool folks, most notably Clif Bar, Carbon Shredders and Seventh Generation. We're loving our relationship with Manitoba Harvest - we've been distributing samples and stickers at shows, and enjoying their yummy food in our van and in our homes!
Recycling has been super easy and finding biodiesel has not been hard at all. People are enjoying their water bottles and the amount of money and resources we're saving by not getting plastic.
I'm currently looking for a solar company that will help us power our laptops, phones and ipods with solar power while we're driving down the road.
I look forward to hearing from you!
Peace!

Hi there!
I want to address the comment made by Pete G, regarding the cruise.
The band is doing what is within their personal power to make positive change regarding their own environmental impact, with special emphasis on long-term solutions they can use while on tour, and to raise awareness about companies who are making a great difference to our planet.
While we don't condone the environmental policies of cruise ships, we are also at a point in our careers where something like canceling an event like this would negatively impact our reputations and our ability to make a living at all.
Our understanding at the time of confirming this cruise was that they were meeting with a sustainability consultant who was helping them to find more sustainable solutions to their environmental dilemmas. I don't know whether they went ahead with the recommendations or not.
We are not claiming to be perfect. We are simply trying to find better ways of doing things. Even the manufacturing of biodiesel is not flawless.
I hope this helps shed some light on where we stand.
Thanks for your input!
Tania

I can't believe how many bars in the US don't recycle.
Also cut your guitar picks from credit cards that come in the mail.

Heart warmed to see your passion take yet another form in action, Tania. I'll be sure to send along anything I come accross to you guys. ... like, did you know that those newer 'last a really long time, save you money & waste' lightbulbs are really bad in the garbage heap because they are filled with mercury. I haven't found an alternative yet, but it's on my radar.
Love to you all,
Megan

You might want to begin the "Greening" of your group by cancelling your Cayamo cruise in February...the ship you will be on dumps its raw sewage at sea "at least 3 miles off the coast" (very nice of them, but perfectly leagle). While stopped at the various ports (which is known as "hoteling") the ship emmits the same amount of pollution as appox 12,000 ideling automobiles...YES that is correct TWELVE THOUSAND
