Welcome to GreenDuhks - The Duhks Sustainability Project
The Duhks (pronounced like "ducks") are a 5-member Canadian group that seamlessly blend Gospel, Celtic, Old time, Zydeco, Country, Latin, French-Canadian and sheer Rock & Roll.
In the 6 years that they've been together, their unique sound has earned them a Grammy Award nomination in the Best Country Vocal Performance by a Group or Duo category, one Juno Award, two additional Juno nominations, two Folk Alliance awards, and an Americana Music Association nomination for Best Emerging Artists.
As they have become more aware of the impact that constant touring has on the Earth, The Duhks have adapted a more conscious touring plan. Touring on Biodiesel, recycling, using reusable drink containers, and supporting the certified organic foods industry and local farmers wherever they go are just some of the ways in which The Duhks are changing the way they live on the road.
With their new album, entitled "Fast Paced World", slated for release August 12th, 2008, The Duhks are hitting the road harder than ever, playing major festivals all over North America and Europe this summer and fall.
Through performance and multimedia, they hope to raise awareness about ways to live a more economically viable and ecologically sustainable lifestyle, with a special emphasis on biodiesel and local environmental organizations in a town near you!
The Duhks aim to reduce their carbon footprint as much as possible, switch to renewables whenever possible, and offset what is left over.
Reduce. Renew. Offset.
